Ricardo Saban is a Professor of physiology, College of Medicine, OUHSC, Okla, USA and a Member of the OU Cancer Institute. He has a Ph.D. degree in physiology and a Livre Docente in pathology from the University of S. Paulo, Brazil. He has 2 postdoctoral trainings at the University of Wisconsin-Madison working with Drs. Carl Buckner and James Will (1982–1984 and 1986–1990). He was also a Member of the UW Division of Urology (1988–1999). Dr. Saban is a well-respected and internationally recognized expert in inflammation especially with respect to lymphatic vessels involvement in a broad range of inflammatory conditions and cancer. The track record of his publications attests that Dr. Saban is a pioneer in generating diseases animal models and that his laboratory utilizes cutting-edge molecular techniques such as molecular imaging, suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH), cDNA arrays, and transcriptional factors analyses. More recently, Dr. Saban introduced the cutting edge technology of molecular imaging of VEGF receptors.
