Teresa Coccini holds a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences, specialized in pharmacology. She works as a Biologist Coordinator of the research activities of the Toxicology Division and Toxicologist for the diagnostic tests of the Medical Laboratory Service at the IRCCS Salvatore Maugeri Foundation, Scientific Institute of Pavia Medical Centre, Italy. Coccini also serves as a Contract Professor at the University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy. She spent two years as Senior Fellow in the Department of Environmental Health of the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA. She is a Member of the Italian Society of Toxicology and the Italian Society of Nanotoxicology and the author of more than 100 publications. Her research interests include environmental and occupational toxicology, in vivo neurotoxicity studies, biomarkers of exposure and effect, neurochemical markers of CNS effects: application to human subjects, nanomaterial safety by in vitro and in vivo testing, and validation of new cellular and molecular tests to be applied in clinical medicine.
