Mei Chin Lai
Mei Chin Lai is a Professor of microbiology at the Department of Life Sciences at National Chung Hsing University at Taiwan. She received her Ph.D. degree in microbiology from the University of Rhode Island, RI, USA in 1989. Following postdoctoral studies at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Ca, USA with Dr. Robert A. Mah and Robert P. Gunsalus studying the osmolytes in halophilic methanogens, she has been a Faculty Member at the National Chung Hsing University since 1992. Her research interests are in the areas of osmoregulation in halophilic methanogens and extreme haloarchaea, isolation and characterization of methanogen and extreme haloarchaea, biomedical application of archaeal biopolymers, and molecular microbial ecology.
