Salvatore Cavalieri

Salvatore Cavalieri was born in Catania in 1965. He received his "laurea" degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Catania, Italy, in 1989. In 1993 he received the Ph.D. in Electronic and Informatic Engineering. In 1994 he obtained a grant for a post-Ph.D.in Electric Engineering from the University of Catania. In 1995 he became Researcher at the University of Catania, Faculty of Engineering, Institute of Informatic and Telecommunications. In 1998 he became Associate Professor at the University of Catania, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer and Telecommunications Engineering. Actually he is Full Professor in Computer Science at the University of Catania, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer and Telecommunications Engineering. His research areas cever Neural Networks, Petri Net-based Performance Evaluation, Real-Time Process Control-Oriented Communication Protocols, GRID, Home and Building Automation. In the area of real-time communication protocols he was member of IEC SC65C WG6 FieldBus standardization committee. He is also Honorary Member of the Italian Section of the FieldBus Foundation Consortium and PNI Profibus Consortium.
