Rafiqul Islam received a B.S. Engineering degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 1998, an M.S. Engineering degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Khulna, Bangladesh, in 2006, and a Ph.D. degree in semiconductor device growth, characterization, and fabrication from Fukui University, Fukui, Japan, in 2010. From 2000 to 2001, he served as an Assistant Engineer with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). In 2001, he moved to KUET as a Lecturer at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Currently, he works as an Assistant Professor with the same department. He has been awarded various scholarships, such as National Scholarships, Monbukagakusho Scholarship (Japanese government). He serves as a Member of the Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) and Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP). His research interests include semiconductor device growth characterization and fabrication, InGaN solar cells, and nanotechnologies.
