Savvas Argyropoulos

Savvas Argyropoulos was born in Chalkida, Greece, in 1981. He received the Diploma and Ph.D degrees from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Thessaloniki, Hellas, in 2004 and 2008, respectively. He is currently a Research Scientist at Deutsche Telekom Labs, in Berlin, Germany. During his studies, he held teaching and research assistantship positions at AUTH. He was also a Graduate Research Associate with the Informatics and Telematics Institute, Centre for Research and Technology Hellas. Since 2005, he has participated in several research projects funded by the EC. Dr. Argyropoulos was the corecipient of the 2008 Biometric Research Award by the European Biometrics Forum. His research interests include video quality assessment, hybrid video quality models, video coding and transmission, distributed source coding, secure biometric authentication, and multimodal signal processing and fusion. Dr. Argyropoulos is a Member of IEEE. He was also the recipient of the 2008 European Biometrics Research Award.
