José María Sarabia serves as a Professor of statistics at the Department of Economics at the University of Cantabria, Santander, Spain. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics and statistics from the University of Valladolid, Spain, and the Ph.D. degree in mathematics from the University of Cantabria, Spain, in 1989. He has been a Visiting Professor in ICMA Centre (University of Reading, UK), London School of Economics and Imperial College, London, UK. He has published more than 120 research papers in several relevant Journals including: Journal of the American Statistical Association, Statistical Science, Journal of Econometrics, Econometrics Reviews, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of Multivariate Analysis, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Naval Research Logistic, Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, Statistics and Probability Letters, Statistics, Environmetrics, Physica A, among others. He is the author or coauthors of 12 books published in relevant editorials including John Wiley and Springer Verlag. He is an Associate Editor of the journals: Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, Statistical Methodology, TEST, Journal of Probability and Statistics, Anales del Instituto de Actuarios Espanoles, and Chilean Journal of Statistics. He has received several awards for his research work. His research interests include multivariate analysis, distribution theory, extreme value theory, economic inequality, and actuarial statistics.
