Colin J. L. McCartney has had an interest in regional anesthesia and pain medicine since starting anesthesia in 1993. He completed training in Scotland and then spent a fellowship year in Toronto before becoming a staff anesthetist in 2000. He is currently a staff Anesthetist and Director of Regional Anesthesia Research and Education at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and an Associate Professor, Department of Anesthesia, University of Toronto. His current research interests are functional outcomes following orthopedic surgery, use of ultrasound in regional anesthesia, and factors associated with development of chronic pain following surgery.
