University of Picardie Jules Verne, France

Laurent Gutierrez was born in France in 1972. He received a Master’s degree (2001) and a Ph.D. degree (2004) in plant molecular biology from the University of Picardie Jules Verne, Amiens, France. During his Ph.D., he worked in the field of seed development and maturation in both Arabidopsis and flax. Then, he moved to the Umea Plant Science Centre (UPSC), Sweden, on a postdoctoral fellowship for three years, working at unravelling the regulatory network controlling adventitious rooting in Arabidopsis. In 2008, he came back to the University of Picardie Jules Verne where he was recruited as the head of the molecular biology centre (CRRBM). His area of expertise includes the study of regulatory networks controlling hypocotyl growing and adventitious rooting and his laboratory develops qRT-PCR, microarrays and 454 RNA-seq methods to analyse transcriptional and miRNA-mediated posttranscriptional gene expression regulations.
