Minglun Gong obtained his M.S. degree from the Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) in 1997 and his Ph.D. degree from the same university in 2003 and obtained his B.Eng. degree from the Harbin Engineering University (Harbin, China) in 1994. After graduation, Gong served as a Faculty Member at the Laurentian University (Greater Sudbury, ON, Canada) for four years before joining the Memorial University (St. John's, NL, Canada). Gong's research interests cover various topics in the broad area of visual computing (including computer graphics, computer vision, visualization, image processing, and pattern recognition). So far, he has published over 80 referred technical papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings and submitted 4 patent applications. He has served as Program Committee Member for top-tier conferences, such as ICCV and CVPR, and Reviewer for prestigious journals including IEEE TPAMI and IJCV. Gong was the recipient of the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Award and the CFI New Opportunity Award.
