Murat Oz, M.D., was graduated from the Medical School in Ankara, Turkey (1987) and completed his Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology at the University of Alberta, Canada, in 1993. He has since worked in the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neurophysiology at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism in Rockville as a Fogarty Fellow. Since 2001, he has been working on the neurophysiology of the drugs of abuse as a Senior Research Scientist in the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Intramural Research Program in Baltimore. He serves currently as an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University. His research interests focus on the identification of ion channels and neuronal networks upon which neuropharmacologically active agents act to modulate neuronal excitability.
