Servé W. M. Kengen
Servé W. M. Kengen studied biology at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He obtained his Ph.D. degree at the same University, on the biochemistry of methanogenic archaea (1985-1990). Afterwards he started a postdoctoral period in the Laboratory of Microbiology of Wageningen University, where he worked on the physiology and biochemistry of various anaerobic bacteria and archaea. His emphasis was on the elucidation of novel pathways and enzymes of hyperthermophilic archaea. Currently, he serves as Assistant Professor at the same laboratory, focusing on the analysis, metabolic engineering, and systems biology of biofuel producing mesophilic and thermophilic anaerobes as well as the biochemistry of thermostable enzymes.
