Li Cheng

L. Cheng received his BSc in Applied Mechanics from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1984 and DEA and Ph.D degrees from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquees de Lyon (INSA-Lyon), France in 1986 and 1989, respectively. After a short stay of two years in Sherbrooke University, Canada, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Laval University, Canada in 1992. In the following years, he was promoted to Associate Professor and Full Professor, before joining the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2000. He is now a Chair Professor and the Director of the Consortium for Sound and Vibration research. His research interests mainly include noise and vibration control, fluid-structure interaction, damage detection and smart material/structure.
