Jianshe Lei works as a Research Professor of seismology in the Institute of Crustal Dynamics, China Earthquake Administration (CEA), Beijing, China. He obtained his M.S. degree from Lanzhou Institute of Earthquake Research, CEA, in 1996 and got his Ph.D. degree from the Graduate School of the University of Science and Technology of China, Beijing, China, in 2002. He worked in the Earthquake Administration of Shanxi Province during 1996 and 1998. Lei served as a postdoctoral research fellow from June 2003 to December 2005. His current research interests include origin of active volcanoes, the fate of subduction slab, mechanism of strong earthquakes, and causes of orogenic belts using seismic tomography.
