Elvira Mascolo is a Full Professor of mathematical analysis (MAT/05) at the Department of Mathematics Ulisse Dini, University of Florence, Florence, Italy. He graduated in mathematics summa cum laude in June 1976 from the University of Naples, Naples, Italy. His teaching experience includes mathematical analysis, function theory, functional analysis, and calculus of variations. He is the Supervisor of some M.S. and Ph.D. degrees dissertations. He is the author of 42 articles in international journals and in proceedings, concerning many aspects and problems in elliptic partial differential equation and systems and calculus of variations, particularly regularity questions of solutions with anisotropic, p-q, and general growth conditions. Topics of research concerned the semicontinuity for quasiconvex and polyconvex functionals and existence of solutions for nonconvex and nonpolyconvex functionals. He was a Visiting Professor at the School of Mathematics, Minneapolis (USA), Universidad National, Tucuman, Universidad Austral, Rosario, and Universidad San Luis and Mendoza (Argentina). He is a Correspondent of the Istituto Matematico Argentino (IMA), Buenos Aires (Argentina). He is also Scientific Secretary of the CIME-Roberto Conti Foundation, International Mathematical Summer Center, and Vice Dean of the Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences Faculty of University of Florence.
