Ömer Civalek has been an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Akdeniz, since 2004. He holds two Ph.D. degrees in structural and mechanical engineering, one from Dokuz Eylül University (on the nonlinear dynamic analysis of multidegree-of-freedom systems by the method of DQ) and the other from the University of Firat (on the nonlinear static, buckling, and dynamic analysis of plates and shells). He has authored 50 refereed journal papers (about 23 in SCI Journals), over 15 papers in various conferences, and 23 papers in various national journals. His research emphasis has been on solid mechanics, vibration, especially plates and shells, computational mechanics, laminated structures, structural dynamics, functionally graded material, and artificial neural networks.
