Alaittin Elhan was born in 1945 in Kilis, Turkey. He studied primary school in Gaziantep-Ceylanpinar and secondary school in Kurtulus High School in Ankara. He was graduated from Ankara Atatürk High School in 1964 and started his academic education in Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary. He graduated from the University in 1969 and started his doctorate in the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Ankara University. He gave his thesis about the “Anatomy of the inguinal canal in certain mammals” in 1974 as a doctor of anatomy. He was appointed as an Instructor in 1976. He received his Associated Professor title in 1979 and the Professor title in 1988. He has more than 100 papers published in international and national journals. Elhan is currently a Member of TSA and IACA. He is working as the Chairman of the Department of Anatomy in Ankara University School of Medicine since 1997.
