Oleg Marchenko graduated from Moscow Physical Engineering Institute in 1976 with the degree of nuclear engineer. In 1986, he received a Ph.D. degree in the field of energy conversion. In 1975–1992, he worked for Sukhumi Physical and Technical Institute, Tbilisi, Georgia, and was engaged in the development of power sources with direct heat-electricity energy conversion. Since 1992, he has been with Energy Systems Institute, Irkutsk, Russia, as Senior and Leading Researcher. His main research fields are economic assessment of energy technologies efficiency, mathematical modeling of systems with nontraditional and renewable energy sources, and investigation of energy technologies implementation for achieving sustainable development goals. Marchenko is the author and coauthor of about 230 scientific works, 4 patents, and 10 books.
