Gong-Ru Lin

Gong-Ru Lin received his B.S. degree in physics from Soochow University in 1988, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electro-optical engineering from National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) in 1990 and 1996, respectively. He is currently the Deputy Chair of the Graduate Institute of Photonics and Optoelectronics, and is appointed with the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University. Professor Lin is the 2008 Fellow of International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), the Member of the Optical Society of America (OSA), the Senior Member of Lasers and Electro-Optics (LEOS) and the Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) Societies of IEEE. He was also one of the permanent members of the Optical Engineering Society, Physical Society, and CIEE of China. In particular, he has also served on SPIE that is the Award Committee (since 2003), the Secretary of Taiwan Chapter (since 2004), and the Vice Chair of Taiwan Chapter (since 2006). He was also the Treasurer (since 2004) and is currently the Vice Chair of the IEEE/LEOS Taipei Chapter. Recently, Professor Lin focuses his interests on Si light emitters and nanophotonics. He has coauthored more than 120 papers in international journals and over 170 papers in international conferences. He is currently involved in the steering committee or technical program committee of several OSA and IEEE sponsored international conferences and topical workshops, such as TPC of OSA conference of Nanophotonics, TPC of IEEE Conference on Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics, the international organizing committee of IEEE Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics, and the steering committee of Asia-Pacific Microwave Photonics.
