Antonio Iannelli

Antonio Iannelli, M.D., Ph.D., was born in Naples in 1968. He received a degree in medicine from the University of Naples in July 1992 (summa cum laude) for a basic and fundamental research work on rat model of thyroid cancer. This project was carried out in collaboration with the Columbia University in New York, that he joined as a summer student in 1991. Before starting the residency in general surgery at the University of Naples, he spent one more year doing basic and fundamental research at the same University. He served as an Honorary Surgical Registrar at the King’s College in 1998. He completed his surgical residency (summa cum laude) in the same year. He moved to Paris and then to Nice, where he currently works as a Consultant in digestive surgery and liver transplantation. He earned his Ph.D. degree in 2010 and the H.D.R. degree (Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches) in 2011. He is a Member of the INSERM unit (liver complications of obesity), where he carries out clinical and basic. At present, his surgical activity is mainly concerned in minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, and liver transplantation.
