Danuta Szczesna‐Cordary received her Ph.D. degree in natural sciences from the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland. She is a Professor of molecular and cellular pharmacology at the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, USA. Szczesna‐Cordary received her postdoctoral training in striated muscle contraction and regulation using various techniques and animal models. The major theme of her research pertains to molecular and cellular events associated with the performance of the heart in normal and pathological states. Specifically, her research interests center on the myosin light chain based mechanisms of cardiac muscle contraction with a specific focus on familial cardiomyopathies. Szczesna‐Cordary has published over 65 manuscripts, is a Member of the Editorial Board for Biophysical Reviews, and is a Reviewer for prestigious scientific journals.
