Boris Malomed is a professor at the Department of Physical Electronics, which is a part of the School of Electrical Engineering, at the Faculty of Engineering, of the Tel Aviv University (Tel Aviv, Israel). He is an author or co-authors of more than 500 original research papers. He has published a number of review articles, and a book "Soliton Management in Periodic Systems" (Springer: New York, 2006). He has advised 24 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, and has been working with 6 postdoc researchers. His work includes international collaborations with a large number of theorists and experimentalists al over the world. He has been working as a reviewer for many international journals, and was recently awarded with a certificate of an "Outstanding Referee" of the American Physical Society. His research interests are focused on theoretical studies of one-dimensional and multi-dimensional solitons, vortices, and nonlinear waves in general in optics (fibers, gratings, planar waveguides, bulk media, etc.), Bose-Einstein condensation/matter waves, hydrodynamics, dynamical lattices, and the theory of nonlinear pattern formation in dissipative media.
