Luciano Pirola graduated from the University of Milano, Italy, and obtained a PhD in biochemistry at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland in 2000. Since 2000, Dr. Pirola is a research scientist at INSERM, France. In 2008-2010 he spent 2 years as a visiting scientist at Baker IDI, Melbourne, Australia. His main research interest is the study of the physiopathology of insulin resistance and diabetic complications, and he is currently studying the effects of the antioxidant molecule resveratrol in these experimental systems.
