Sherif M. Karam

Sherif M. Karam obtained his Medical degree in 1981 from Alexandria University, Egypt. Following his M.S. degree in 1987, he moved to McGill University in Montreal, Canada and obtained his Ph.D. degree in anatomy and cell biology. From 1991-93, he did his postdoctoral training in the University of California, Berkeley, Calif, USA in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. In1993, he moved to the Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University as an Assistant and then Associate Professor. In 2001, he joined UAE University and since 2006, has become a Full Professor. Professor Karam’s research focuses on gastric stem cell biology and carcinogenesis and is funded by UAE University, Emirates Foundation and Terry Fox Fund for Cancer Research.
