Norbert Mencke graduated with a D.V.M. degree from University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover, Hanover, Germany (Tierä rztliche Hochschule Hannover). His Ph.D. thesis in parasitology is in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Adelaide, SA, Australia. His specialization is in parasitology (Fachtierarzt für Parasitologie), and he is Board Certified Diplomate of the European Veterinary Parasitology College (EVPC). Mencke is currently the Director of Animal Expertise Center/Preclinic within R&D, Bayer Animal Health at head office in Monheim, Germany. His previous positions included being the Director of Global Veterinary Services within Global Marketing, in Bayer Animal Health, Veterinary Services Manager, Research Laboratory Scientist (target animal screening laboratory) and Head of Animal Research Center. Lecturing parasitology at the University of Hanover (Institute for Parasitology) is one of his professional activities. Mencke is a Member of the German Society for Parasitology (DGP, DVG), The Australian Society for Parasitology (ASP), The American Associate of Veterinary Parasitologists (AAVP), and The American Heartworm Society (AHS). He serves as invited speaker at numerous national and international scientific meetings. He has over 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals in veterinary parasitology and over 95 patents filed with over 20 active patents. He is a Member of the Editorial Board for Parasitology Research.
