Isabel L. Mauricio

Isabel L. Mauricio has graduated in biology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 1993. She earned the Ph.D. degree in the subject of genetic diversity of the Leishmania donovani complex from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK. She participated, while working at the LSHTM, in EC-funded and Wellcome-funded projects as well as networks in the subjects of Leishmania molecular epidemiology, genetic diversity, development of genotyping methods, phylogenetics, evolution, and genetic recombination. She recently has shifted her focus to the field of helminthology at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IHMT) in Lisbon, Portugal, having particular interest on lymphatic filariasis, soil transmitted helminths, and schistosomiasis, with the same broad research interests.
