T. P. Straatsma
T. P. Straatsma serves as a Laboratory Fellow and Chief Scientist for computational sciences and mathematics at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He holds a Ph.D. degree in mathematics and natural sciences from the University of Groningen and is an internationally recognized scientist with more than thirty years of experience in the development, efficient implementation, and application of advanced modeling and simulation methods as key scientific tools in the study of chemical and biomolecular systems. His research interests include the development and application of innovative simulation methodologies to study microbial membrane-mediated transport and signaling processes, membrane-mediated processes at mineral surfaces, and complex enzymatic reactions that may involve combined electron and proton transfer steps. Dr. Straatsma is also active in the development of new computational capabilities needed to enable scientific advancements and breakthroughs through computational modeling and simulation on next-generation, extreme-scale computers.
