T. P. Straatsma
T. P. Straatsma serves as a Manager of scientific computing at the National Center for Computational Sciences in the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tenn, USA. He received a Ph.D. degree in mathematics and natural sciences from the University of Groningen, Groningen, The Netherlands, and he is an internationally recognized Scientist with more than thirty years of experience in the development, efficient implementation, and application of advanced modeling and simulation methods as key scientific tools in the study of chemical and biomolecular systems. His research interests include the development of new computational capabilities needed to enable scientific advancements and breakthroughs through computational molecular modeling and simulation on next-generation, extreme-scale computers. He is applying innovative simulation methodologies to study a variety of molecular biophysical processes, such as microbial membrane-mediated transport and signaling processes, membrane-mediated processes at mineral surfaces, and complex enzymatic reactions that may involve combined electron and proton transfer steps.
