Mikel A. Becerro received in 1994 his Ph.D. degree in marine ecology from the University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain. He is a Principal Research Scientist at the Natural Products and Agrobiology Institute (Spanish Research Council). His multidisciplinary approach to understanding marine benthic ecology started early in his career, combining traditional field methods in ecology with cytology, chemistry, or genetics to assess the role of biotic interactions in community organization and functioning. Chemical ecology is at the heart of Dr. Becerro’s research, from specific predatory, competitive, or symbiotic interactions to broader levels of organization and evolution. Dr. Becerro is now focused on understanding and preserving diversity at multiple levels of biological organization. Visit www.thebiteslab.com to learn more about Dr Becerro's research activities.
