Byung-Jun Yoon received his B.S.E. degree (summa cum laude) from Seoul National University (SNU), Seoul, Korea, in 1998, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Pasadena, CA, USA, in 2002 and 2007, respectively, all in electrical engineering. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Caltech from 2006 to 2007. In 2008, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA, where he is currently an Assistant Professor. His recent honors include the NSF CAREER Award and the Best Paper Award at the 9th Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Conference (APBC), both in 2011. His main research interest is in genomic signal processing (GSP), bioinformatics, and computational biology.
