Jacek Waniewski works as an Associate Professor, as the Head of the Department of Mathematical Modeling of Physiological Processes, and as the Head of Laboratory of Mathematical Modeling of Biomedical Systems, Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering (IBBE), Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland. He obtained the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees in mathematical physics from Faculty of Physics, Warsaw University, Warsaw, Poland, in 1984 and 1995, respectively. He received another Ph.D. in renal medicine in 2001 from Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. He authored and coauthored 150 scientific publications and book chapters, and 3 books, with emphasis on dialysis therapy in end-stage renal disease, fluid and solute transport in peritoneal dialysis, hemodynamics, cardiovascular system, glucose-insulin system, theoretical immunology and oncology, and mathematical population dynamics, as well as 200 scientific presentations/abstracts at national and international meetings. He serves as a Member of 8 national and international societies in fields of artificial organs, nephrology, and mathematical modeling in biology and medicine.
