Barbara Wachowicz was born in 1942, Poland. She received MSc biochemistry and Ph.D. from the University of Lodz, Lodz, Poland in 1965 and 1972 respectively. Since 1965 she has been working at the Univeristy of Lodz. She is Professor (since 1990), presently Head of Dept. General Biochemistry, University of Lodz, Poland. She is mainly interested in blood platelets activation and function, a role of oxidative/nitrative stress in hemostasis in platelets and vascular system. She is interested in anioxidants in hemostasis, especially polyphenols. In 1970 she was a Reaserch Fellow ot Schiller University (Germany), from 1973-74 at University of Oslo as Recipient Norvegian Royal Research Award, in 1975 at Cambridge University and in 1980, 1982 and 1986 at King's College London. She was Vice-Dean, Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences (1990-1993). She was editor of Acta Universitatis Lodziensis, Folia Biochimica et Biophisica.
