Reji Philip was born in Kerala, India, in 1965. He received the M.S. (physics) and Ph.D. (nonlinear optical spectroscopy) degrees from the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), India, in 1987 and 1994, respectively. For a brief period in 1994, he was a scientist at the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore. After postdoctoral stints at the University of Regensburg, Germany, and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, he joined the Raman Research Institute (RRI) in Bangalore, India, in 2000. Presently, he is an Associate Professor in the Light and Matter Physics Group of the institute. He has been a visiting scientist to the University of Regensburg and the University of Massachusetts, Boston. At present, he is the Vice President of the Photonics Society of India (PSI) and a Member of the Board of Studies in Physics of CUSAT. His current research interests include nonlinear optical properties of nanostructures, femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy, and ultrafast laser induced plasmas.
