Veena Taneja was born in New Delhi, India. After her postgraduate studies at the University of Delhi, Delhi, India, she joined All India Institute of Medical Sciences as a Research Fellow with Fellowship of the Indian Council of Medical Research. She received the Ph.D. degree from the University of Delhi, Delhi, India, in 1993. In 1992, she joined All India Institute of Medical Sciences as a Senior Research Officer. She received Young Scientist Awards for her work in immunology. From 1995 to 1997, Veena joined the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA, and became a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Associate, respectively. She received many grant awards from the Arthritis Foundation. Presently, she is an Associate Professor of immunology and Senior Associate Consultant of rheumatology and immunology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. Her major interest is to understand immunopathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, epigenetics, epistatic effects of major histocompatibility complex, and aging and mucosal immune system and its modulation in autoimmunity. She has received federal grants including the National Institute of Health Grants for her work. She has received many awards from various societies to present her work. In 1994, she edited a section of Drug Discovery Today. Veena serves as a Member on the Editorial Advisory Board of The Open Rheumatology Journal. She is a Member of the American Association of Immunologists and American College of Rheumatology.
