Theo van Erp

Theo G.M. van Erp was born in Goirle, The Netherlands, in 1973. He received a Masters degree in Neuropsychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Neuroscience from the University of Nijmegen and the University of Utrecht in 1996 and 2007, respectively. Between 1995 and 1999 he was a research fellow working on structural and functional neuroimaging studies in psychiatry at the Mental Health Clinical Research Center and Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In 1999 he moved with the Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory to the University of California Los Angeles, where he continued work on schizophrenia and bipolar disorder family and twin studies, and on adolescents at risk for psychosis, first-episode and chronic schizophrenia. In 2008 he became Associate Director of the Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory and between 2008-2010 he was the North American Prodrome Longitudinal Study MRI Task Force Scientific Project coordinator. In 2010, he started an Assistant Professor in Residence position in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of California Irvine (UCI). At UCI he has joined the lead group of the Function Bioinformatics Research Network. His primary research focus is on neuroimaging in psychiatry. T.G.M. van Erp is a member of the Society for Neuroscience and Human Brain Mapping.
