Paul Scherrer Institut, Switzerland

Valerio Scagnoli was born in Rome, Italy. He received the degree in physics from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy in 2001. He pursued his study in physics at the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland where he received the Ph.D. degree in material science in 2005. From 2006 to 2009, he was a postdoc fellow at the magnetic scattering beamline at European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France. Since 2010, he is postdoc fellow at the Paul Scherrer Institut in Villigen, Switzerland. His research interests focus on the phenomena of charge ordering, orbital ordering, magnetic structures, magnetically induced multiferroics, metal-insulator transitions, and interaction of magnetic materials with femtosecond laser pulses.
