Michel Goldman

Michel Goldman is the Head of the Department of Immunology-Hematology-Transfusion of the Hôpital Erasme in Brussels and the Director of the new Institute of Medical Immunology at Charleroi-Gosselies, Belgium. Scientific achievements of Michel Goldman resulted in more than 300 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 25 book chapters. Michel Goldman was recognized as ISI Highly Cited Scientist in 2006 by the Thomson Institute for Scientific Information. He received in 2000 the Joseph Maisin Prize, a major award for clinical sciences delivered by the Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique, Belgium. He held the Spinoza chair at the University of Amsterdam in 2001 and was the President of the Sixth International Conference on New Trends in Clinical and Experimental Immunosuppression in Geneva in February 2002. Michel Goldman is the coordinator of an Integrated Project on Transplantation Tolerance (RISET) launched by the European Commission in 2005. He is Member of the Executive Committee of the European Journal of Immunology, Associate Editor of the American Journal of Transplantation and of Clinical and Developmental Immunology, and serves in the scientific advisory board of the Roche Organ Transplant Research Foundation. Michel Goldman was appointed in 2006 as Vice President of the BioWin Health Cluster created by the government of the Walloon Region to foster partnerships between industries and academic institutions. In 2007, Michel Goldman will serve the European Research Council as Member of the advisory panel on immunology and infectious diseases.
