Sharmila M. Mukhopadhyay
Sharmila M. Mukhopadhyay is a Professor of materials science and engineering and Director of Center for Nanoscale Multifunctional Materials at Wright State University (WSU), Ohio, USA. Her interests are in nanomaterials, surface and interface phenomena, and multidisciplinary materials education. She received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Indian Institute of Technology, India and the Ph.D. degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, Ny, USA. She joined the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Department of WSU in 1997 after working as a Postdoctoral Associate at Rutgers University, NJ, USA and an Assistant Professor at Polytechnic University, Ny, USA. Dr. Mukhopadhyay has published over hundred papers and reports and has obtained several millions of dollars in research funding from federal and state agencies such as NSF, DOE, AFOSR, AFRL, NASA, OBOR, EPA, as well as industry. She serves on several review panels and boards, including the Editorial Boards of Metallurgical and Materials Transactions and ISRN Condensed Matter Physics; the Executive Committee of the ASM-Dayton Chapter; and multiple community outreach organizations. She has organized several national and international symposia and is the past Chair of the Electronics Division of American Ceramic Society. Dr. Mukhopadhyay is listed in "Who's Who in the World", "Who's Who in America", and "Who's Who in Science and Engineering". She is the recipient of the Trustees Award of Faculty Excellence at Wright State and is an elected Fellow of the American Ceramic Society.
