Mohammad Mahroof Tahir works as a Professor of chemistry at Saint Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minn, USA. He is visiting Qatar University, Doha, Qatar as a Fulbright Scholar for one year. Prior to joining Qatar University, Dr. Mahroof Tahir served as the Chair of the Chemistry Department at his parent's institution. He earned an M.S. degree in science from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Then, he obtained an M.S. degree in arts, and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md, USA, in 1992. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colo, USA from 1992 to 1994. Before joining Saint Cloud State University, he worked as a Full Time and a Visiting Faculty at several universities including Northwestern University, Chicago and Colorado State University. Dr. Mahroof Tahir’ s specialty is in the area of bioinorganic and materials chemistry. He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in the journals of high repute, delivered 50+ presentations in international conferences and 26 invited lectures at several international universities. His research interests include the development of metal-based antidiabetic and anticancer drugs and development of sensors with environmental applications. His emphasis on research is to understand the mechanism of the actions of drugs with biomolecules and to study their structure activity relationship. Dr. Mahroof Tahir has more than 17 years of teaching experience in several institutions, teaching variety of courses, updating curricula, advising masters and doctoral thesis/dissertations, research, and service. He has been instrumental in the development and offering of three online lab-based chemistry courses.
