Dirk Westermann was born in Bremen, Germany in 1977. After finishing medical school in munich, Vienna and parma, he started working as a clinical cardiologist in the Charite, Campus Benjamin Franklin, Berlin. His scientific interest is in the heart failure with normal ejection fraction as well as importance of cardiac inflammation for changes in the extracellular matrix. Animal models of heart failure, but especially endomyocardial biopsies are sources for this research.
