Nicola Magnavita completed Specialization in occupational medicine at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy, on October 14, 1980, vote 70/70 cum laude. He also holds a degree in medicine at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart on November 4, 1977, vote of 110/110 cum laude. He works as a Confirmed Researcher at the Institute of Occupational Medicine of the Catholic University since 1977. His medical activities were conducted on two distinct levels: clinical activities, at the Department of Occupational Medicine pertaining to the pool of Medicine; and preventive health surveillance activities in workplaces. Since 1980 he teaches occupational medicine and related disciplines. In sum, between February 1991 and December 2011 he concluded 167 years of teaching in undergraduate courses and specialization. He has published over 530 papers, of which over 100 in journals with impact factor. Magnavita has published seven books on topics of occupational medicine and has collaborated in the writing of several other monographs and treatises. Main areas of interest include the management of workers risky for others (it is the national coordinator of the study group on the subject) and risk management for health and safety (he developed the ASIA model for risk management in environments work). He currently cooperates with Italian foreign study centers (Finland, Great Britain, Poland, Holland, USA, and Canada). Prof. Magnavita directed as a scientific manager or cooperated in 22 research projects funded by various agencies including the National Research Council, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of University and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Health.
