Zhigang Zou received his B.S. degree and M.S. degree from the Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in 1982 and 1986, respectively. He worked as a Lecturer at the Tianjin University from September 1986 to March 1991. Then, he moved to the Research Laboratory of Engineering Materials at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Yokohama, Japan, as a Visiting Researcher. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1996. He served as a Researcher at the Photoreaction Control Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Tokyo, Japan. He has been working with the Department of Physics at the Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, as a distinguished Professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program since 2003. He also serves as the Director of the Ecomaterials and Renewable Energy Research Center, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China. His current research interests include photocatalysis, solar cells, and fuel cells.
