Carla Roque is a Senior Investigator at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management (INEGI). She obtained her Ph.D. degree in 2007 from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, Porto, Portugal, in the area of numerical modeling of composite materials, using meshless methods and higher order shear deformation theories. The main focus of her investigation is the modeling of composite materials, including functionally graded materials and nanomaterials, using meshless numerical methods. She has authored more than 50 articles in international journals in areas such as engineering, materials science, and mathematics. Also as part of her research activities, she contributes regularly as a reviewer for many engineering and applied mathematical journals. Since 2012, she has been a member of the editorial board of Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Problems in Engineering.
