Norma C. Gutierrez

Norma C. Gutierrez has been an Attending Physician for hematology at the University Hospital of Salamanca, Spain, since 2002. She earned her medical degree at the University of Salamanca and received a Ph.D. degree in medicine from the same university in 1999 with the thesis work on the analysis of genetic abnormalities of multiple myeloma. She subsequently completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Center for Cancer Research of Salamanca. Her main research interests focus on understanding the genetic basis and pathogenesis of monoclonal gammopathies using microarray and gene silencing methodologies, and she is currently leading a project on the role of microRNAs in myeloma. She is an author or coauthor of over 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of plasma cell disorders and other hematological malignancies.
