Alakananda Hajra serves as a synthetic organic chemist. He graduated with an M. S. degree from the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, India in 1998. After completing his Ph.D. degree in 2002 from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, he joined in Hauser’s group in SUNY at Albany as postdoctoral research fellow since November, 2004. He was also a JSPS research Fellow in the University of Tokyo and worked with Prof. Eiichi Nakamura from November 2004 to May, 2006. Currently, he is holding a permanent position as Senor Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Visva-Bharati University since June, 2006. His research interests are diversity-oriented synthesis, multistep synthesis of organic molecules with biological interest, synthesis of natural products and new synthetic methodologies and Green Chemistry. He serves as an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Chinese Clinical Medicine.
