Gilles Z. Lugassy

Gilles Lugassy received his M.D. degree at the Paris Medical Faculty, France, and completed his specialty in Hematology at the Hadassah University Hospital, Jerusalem, Israel. Professor Lugassy is the Head of the Joseph Michaeli Department of Hematology at the Barzilai Medical Center, Ashkelon, and works as an Associated Professor at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. Lugassy was the Secretary (1992-1995) and the President (2005-2008) of the Israeli Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusions. Moreover, he has published some 100 scientific papers, mostly on chronic lymphoid leukemia, and autoimmune manifestations of lymphoproliferative disorders. Professor Lugassy has published the first reports of osteomyelitis of the jaw due to the biphosphonate therapy in the internal medicine literature. Professor Lugassy is the leading Editor of two textbooks on thrombosis and antithrombotic therapy and thrombosis and cancer.
