Ronald Klein, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Neuroscience at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, USA. Klein is a specialist in gene transfer to the CNS and has been focusing on neuropathological proteins in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: microtubule-associated protein tau, alpha-synuclein, and TDP-43. Klein’s educational background is in neuropharmacology during his PhD at the University of Colorado and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Florida. Klein has utilized the adeno-associated virus vector for both focal and global gene delivery to the CNS, for the purposes of creating relevant mammalian models of neurodegenerative disease and for preclinical gene therapy.
