Rui M F Henrique
Rui M F Henrique was born in Porto, Portugal, in 1968. He received the medical degree and the Ph.D. degree in medical sciences (molecular pathology) from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto, Porto, Portugal (ICBAS-UP), in 1992 and 2006, respectively. After completing the residency in pathology at the Portuguese Oncology Institute, Porto (IPO-Porto) in 2000, he became an attending pathologist at the same department and was appointed as the Director of the Department in 2006. Presently, he is a Guest Assistant Professor at the Department of Pathology and Molecular Immunology of ICBAS-UP, lecturing classes of pathology to the medical course, and oncobiology to the M.S. course in biochemistry, among others. His main diagnostic and research interests are hematopathology and uropathology, in particular the role of epigenetic alterations in prostate and renal cancer. He develops his research activity at the Research Centre of IPO-Porto, as a member of the Cancer Epigenetics Group.
