Pedro Weisleder was born in Torreón, Coahuila, México. Weisleder earned his M.D. degree in 1985 from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He then earned an M.S. degree from the University of Arizona (1985–1987) and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington (1987–1991). Weisleder worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas (1992–1995). He completed a residency in neurology and fellowship in pediatric neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute (1995–2001). Weisleder served as a Faculty Member and Clinical Director of Pediatric Neurology at Duke University (2001–2007). Weisleder works as an Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Pediatric Neurology Residency Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH), The Ohio State University. At NCH, Weisleder serves as a Member of the Institutional Review Board, Co-chair of the hospital’s Ethics Committee, and a Member of the Hospice and Palliative Care service. At the state level, Weisleder serves on the Universal Newborn Infant Hearing Screening subcommittee of the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps. At the national level, he serves on the Child Neurology Society’s Ethics Committee. Weisleder serves as the Associate Editor for neuroethics of the Journal of Child Neurology.
