Rickard Ignell received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Lund University, Sweden, in 1996 and 2001, respectively. He is a Leader of the prestigious Linnaeus project, Insect Chemical Ecology, Ethology and Evolution (IC-E3), and a Principal Investigator of the vector chemical ecology group at the Division of Chemical Ecology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Sweden. His main research focus is on the function and evolution of the olfactory system of insects, particularly of mosquitoes. In recent years, Ignell has published in leading scientific journals including Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Neuroscience, and BMC Biology.
