Albert Calbet received the Ph.D. degree in copepod secondary production at the Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM CSIC), Barcelona, Spain, and the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. Calbet is a Postdoc at the Department of Oceanography, University of Hawaii, SOEST. He occupied a Tenured Scientist position in 2006 at the ICM (Barcelona, Spain). In 2009, he was a Scientific Researcher at the same institute. His main research interest includes the ecology of micro- and mesozooplankton in marine environments, the trophic role of zooplankton in marine food webs, and zooplankton ecophysiology (feeding, growth, and reproduction).
